MoYu AoChuang 5x5

So, I bought this at a competition, and it was good during the comp, but afterwords, it started to lock up a lot, and popping a lot. Very short review, not what I usually like to do, and 3 stars is very generous for this cube also. That is it, don’t buy this cube even new (or used because it has been discontinued). Review done, signing off...

Out of the box, it was extremely sandy, and took a lot of force to turn. After a couple of solves, that went away. But, as a rough turner, there was nasty lock ups and catching on the inner layers. It missaligned by several pieces many times in a solve. This mainly happened in the 5x5 stage. But in the 3x3 stage, it is way too fast and uncontrollable. It locks up basically 80% of the time, and is very hard to perform algorithms on. Overall, I would not recommend this 5x5 to anyone.

I got this to replace my florian modded shengshou, but it was less than I was hoping for. turning out of the box was decent on the outer layers, but there was way too much catching. The outer layers are slightly squished, and are not cubic. I find this VERY annoying, and it is hard to turn them without your finger also pushing the layer under it.

This cube is my main. It is very smooth but sandy out of the box. Locks up way less then the huachuang. If you're not accurate on the inner layers, you can get a lock up or pop. Less locking helps rather then on the huachuang, though the huachuang has more stability.

Put wit two springs in it and lube with weight 3 and Maru. Nuff said.

Overall it's a very smooth cube! Out of the box it's a bit dry, bit after a while it becomes very good! It can lock up on the inner layers, but when you get used to the cube and don't overturn you rarely notice this! Very happy with it!

This cube turns amazingly!!!! The only flaws are the pops and the stupid lockups. I got so mad at it that I threw it at the ground. A piece broke, but it fit back into a slot so it hasn't been a problem. I however have never tried a huachuang.

A huge improvement over the Shengshou. A little dry out of the box but after 50 solves or so, the cube is smooth as silk. I haven't experienced any popping yet either.

My only disappointment is Moyu as a company fail to see that standard sticker shades have been around since the cubes invention. So when producing stickerless products, surely the standard shades should be first for release. I'm a collector as well as an enthusiast eagerly waiting for these.

Great cube. It's fast, smooth, doesn't pop and it's remarkably light as well. It has good cornercutting, good turning, doesn't catch much on other pieces and it is overall just a great cube, which I would recomend to faster speedcubers.

Honestly, the best 5x5 i've felt. Out of the box it turns pretty good but after lubing, tensioning and breaking in its so fast and sorta crispy. Corner cutting is more then i've ever need on 5x5. Have had 1 pop and it was one piece, witch was easily put back in. lock ups can happen but are easily fixed just by turning it back
