DaYan Megaminx I

This thing turn so bad, even with any lube put in. This is an impossible choice for a speed-solve, and even isn't worth the $4 on sale price.

I got this megaminx on sale for about $4 (great deal regardless). Out of the box it was obvious that it needed tensioning and lubing. After that it turns great. I'd say it turns better than the shengshou megaminx.

Out of the box it turned horrible. I tensioned it and now the caps just fall off. It popped today and I can't put it back together. Just buy the Xman Megaminx instead. It's cheaper and 100x better

When I got this megaminx, I was very disappointed. The turning out of the box was absolute crap, and even after I broke it in, and put lube in, it didn't help. Overall, I would just recommend a Yuhu Megaminx, since I believe it has better turning, and corner cutting.

Out of the box this cube felt like somebody put tons of lube on the stickers. The turning was very slow. I scrambled it and tried to solve it, but the spring and screw in one of the caps flew out onto the floor, making tons of pieces fall out. This happened TWICE. Don't get this cube. I don't recommend this cube for starters either. Just stick with the YJ YuHu.

My son ordered this about a week ago, he said right out of the box with the first set of moves he did it busted. And it's been that way ever since he tried to scramble it, and now cannot get it back together. Really disappointed for how it expensive a pice of moving plastic is that doesn't even work.

I got the black one without ridges. Out of the box it was a little hard to turn; but, it got better after a few solves... BUT... the screws get loose and eventually unscrew from the core completely! then the spring pushes on the center caps and makes them pop off! I mean REALLY pop... I had one fly about 5 feet! Then I have to screw the screw back in and replace the cap to continue the solve. Other than that, its a great puzzle. 2 stars though for whatever is going on with the core/screws.

Great megaminx! I have the stickerless version. The grips around the corners really help when solving. Corner cutting is just under 45 (like 37). Forward corner cutting is just over half of a piece, more than expected for this puzzle. Originally, right when I bought this puzzle, I had a few "pops". The whole puzzle exploded. I think this was due to how I was holding it, because now, even though I do more solves than when i got it, it never popped since. So as long as you don't try and forward corner cut over 45 degrees, it won't pop. I haven't lubed my puzzle, but I am considering because there is a bit of friction. Overall, however, it is better than the sengshou I previously owned.

Great puzzle in general. It can definitely corner cut. I think it is pretty fast and better than shengshou but keep in mind that I'm not much of a megaminx speed solver.

I got this one without ridges...big mistake. It's harder to turn than I had thought it was (being a 12-sided puzzle, my fingers slipped easily). Out of the box I was very disappointed with the quality of this puzzle. it was very locky and was badly lubed. After disassembling, re-lubing and tensioning, it became a lot better, but was still a little locky. Pretty smooth, corner cutting is excellent, inner corner cutting is great too. Good megaminx. 4/5 Get the ridges. Trust me.
