X-Man Galaxy Megaminx (Lux Set)

Extremely fast and it's bigger than most Megaminxes, which helps recognition. Grip is amazing with the textured tiles. Needed some lube (which is hard to break in), but once it was in, it was amazingly smooth and fast. It's really loose but never pops and corner cuts well. No catching or lockup issues either.

For megaminx, recognition is very important for me because it affects my times the most. On the regular sculpted X-Man Galaxy, I had trouble locating some edges because the sculpted edges made the piece seem smaller which in turn, gave me trouble on looking for them. Also, the tan was not a pleasant color because I got it mixed it up with white sometimes and because I solve the white layer first, I put tan opposite white to avoid that problem. However, this didn't help with my last layer recognition either for whatever reason. Replacing tan with black sufficed for this problem.

Now for the actual set! I experimented with many caps going to other types of caps. My personal favorite mixture was Sculpted Corners, Concave Edges, and Convex Centers. Here's why:

The Sculpted Corners is probably the best type of corner because it's pretty much the only one that gives good grip.

For Edges, I chose the concave ones because the concave and regular flat edges give the best coverage of the piece without added any weird sculpts that would affect my recognition. I chose concave over the flat edges because the flat caps are very thin, which made the edge pieces much lower than the sculpted corners I put on. The concave edges are a bit thicker and go up to the sculpts in the corners so it didn't feel weird. They don't affect grip either because the main source of grip should be the corners, not the entire cube. (like a dayan)

Finally, for Centers, I chose the convex centers. Tbh, I don't think the centers really matter because I never had a problem with grip or recognition with centers, but I chose the convex ones because it just looks sick with the other caps. (I would've gone for sculpted centers for a very slight boost in grip, but I didn't get a dark green sculpted center so yeah)

Very awesome puzzle. Fixed the problems I had with the regular sculpted megaminx and I'm very pleased.

This puzzle was amazing right out of the box. The tiles were actually fun to put on. The only problem is there hard to get off otherwise, This puzzle set is amazing.

I got this set last week and I am honestly surprised. I know galaxys (especially the sculpted) have great performance overall. now I have felt all of the galaxys before, none of them were perfect for me. I had an idea that paid out pretty well, which is why I decided to buy the lux set. my idea was that I would use sculpted corners, convex edges, and concave centers(I think that the concave and plain centers are the same, at least I couldn't tell the difference.) and with setup I used my own homemade lube and some silk, that ended up to be great after break-in. (btw if I had to compare my lube to something, it would probably be maru mixed with speedy, because my lube is secret[shh don't tell.]) this megaminx (set) has become my main and I am really happy with it. if I had to describe it after setup, It would be very buttery, swishy, and smooth.
