ShengShou Megaminx

This puzzle is amazing... it's pre-lubed out of the box making it quiet and buttery smooth. Read this review knowing that I am not a dodecahedron solver. I have the Shengshou Kilominx and Megaminx. I'll take them out from time to time to get a break from my favorite cubes. For beginners and people who just want something different in their collection, the Shengshou Megaminx will not disappoint. I recommend this puzzle for anyone wanting to explore dodecahedrons.

It had nice turning and was dry and lube on the outside.(WHY SHENSHOU WHY!!!!!????!!!!!) It doesn't have very good corner cutting but it was at least something am I right.

Honestly it was pretty good out of the box and was quite quiet. Although back then, I didn't really know much about lubes. But I took it apart once and then it felt all scratchy. It still works, and I would recommend this as a first megaminx if you're interested. Also please do lube it, unlike how I did.

My megaminx seems different from the rest of the comments, but it's true. It was super oily, it felt like a damp cloth. It turned smoothly. Corner cuts great. Even if you drop it no pieces will fall out. Amazing.

Okay, to start off I'd like to mention that I really like Shengshou cubes, and I think that they're very high quality. However, there are some exceptions such as this product. When I got it out of the box, it wasn't greasy and felt dry when turning it. I noticed that it locked up a bunch and there were already stickers coming off. To my recollection it didn't come with stickers. After I lubricated it, it turned better. It wasn't Shengshou quality turning though, it was closer to a Rubik's brand speed cube for a better comparison. Now, the reason I gave it two stars is because the puzzle itself is very fun. The quality of the stickers, out of box turning, and locking up problems. Personally, I would recommenced a stickerless YJ YuHu R Megaminx, as there's no sticker issue there, the out of box turning, while a little sluggish, is a lot better than my experience with the ShengShou. Out of the box, it's very catchy and locky. It has very little corner cutting and zero reverse. However, with overmodding the Florian mod, tensioning and lubing, its absolutely godly. Easily surpasses anything on the market as of July 2016. It can now cut 36 degrees (equivalent of 45 degrees on 3x3) and over 3/4 of a piece reverse. However, the mod needs absolute perfection, and I've spent probably about 10+ hours working on this thing. I would only recommend doing this if you want the absolute best possible megaminx, despite hard work. Otherwise, get a Galaxy or an Aurora.

Out of the box it was very dry and tensioned very tight, I lubed it and re-tensioned it but now I get lock ups every 3 turns or so. Its not a bad beginner Megaminx for beginners. I would still recommend this for anyone just getting into Megaminxs, especially for its price point.

This cube is bad out of the box, this cube never popped. But, it was too tight and did not corner cut that good. But after working it in with Weight 3 and loosening it to the max and modding it, this is the best mega minx in the market.
