ShengShou Gem 3x3

I bought this puzzle for its looks, but my, do I love it's turning.

I'm a sub 40 solver, so I still have a ways to go with speed, but this cube is just so much fun to solve. It feels crunchy and smooth – I would describe it's turning sort of like cotton candy. Overall this is my go to puzzle for when I just want to casually solve. It feels controllable but not slow enough that my fingers get tired. It's not fast, but it sure is fun.

just plain sux. idk y but i hate it so much. its just one cube better than the rubiks brand. actually i think that a lubed rubiks brand is better than this

Just plain terrible. Corner cutting sucks so much and this cube is so slow. I got it lubed and it was still so terrible. It was so bumpy. DON'T GET THIS CUBE. Actually like so terrible

After setting this cube up with Cubicle Wt.3 on the centers (screws and springs) and 3-4 drops of DNM-37, while also keeping factory lube, this cube is insanely buttery with a nice loud turning sound. Tensioning is required, and after tensioning it makes the stability so much better.

The cube's style is amazing, the plastic doesn't feel rough on the hands or interfere with the turning at all.
My only complaint is that the colors in the picture are more vibrant than the colors on the actual cube, as the orange is dulled out and the green's a bit darker.

Easily main worthy.

This is a budget cube for sure. But if you put the effort in, it can become a pretty nice cube.
OOTB...it had uneven tensions and was uncontrollably fast, but very smooth.

Also...the tiles were placed in a different orientation. With white on bottom and blue in front, the right face was Orange! So I had to swap 2 tiles on each corner to bring it to the traditional color scheme.

I broke it in a bit, before lube and tensioning. And it started scratching internal edge and corner pieces during break in. Not too bad, but noticeable and started to happen immediately.

I lubed the core hardware with weight 5, tracks with gravitas, and pieces with dignitas. Tensioned to corner cut about 35 degrees.

After break in, it was still too fast, so it got some silk and the new x lube. It is now so buttery smooth, fast and controllable. Does not lock up much at all.

Lastly... I corner twist a lot with It! And the corner tiles pop off. I glued 2 in so far. And you cant magnetize this thing. But after some serious setup, I really like how smooth and fast it is. And I was surprised that I didn't mind the texture on the tiles. I'm glad I bought it for my collection.

when i first turned the puzzle it was too loose and very fast but after tension it is a pretty good puzzle considering its less than 10 dollars its very faster with OK corner cutting it can cut 45 with ease but the M slice is too fast

This cube was a little loose out-of-the-box so I tightened it and now it is my main no need to lube it because it already seems like it is lubed it turns awesome but I did experience a pop on the first solve but the mechanism for it was not that hard to put back together I highly recommend this cube for beginners, intermediate, competitive and casual solvers.!

This cube is not bad but it is not that good either. Out of the box it was rather sandy feeling but after some solves and lube it did improve a lot.
I did have to pop off the caps for the Red and Orange side and swap them because the cube did not follow the standard color layout.
I like the texture on the pieces but I could see where some might not.
Corner cutting could be better. I like the black internals and I think that is one of the more interesting aspects of this puzzle. I wish the pieces were more rounded as it may have helped with the corner cutting and would have let you see more of the black internals.
Overall, if you are looking for a low cost cube this is decent and for the price it is something different for a "collector". This is a budget cube. It is still fun to use every now and then, but this is not designed to be a main. So if you are looking for a cheap main you might want to save your $ and look at something in the next level price range.

its good but it locks up sometimes

Not really a fan of this one. The textured faces aren't for me and there's a lot of friction in the turns no matter how I tweak it. I'd pass in this one if I had a do-over.
